Macron's critique of Brexit and the Rwanda Bill

Brexit labelled the UK as the country betraying European Values. Macron, the most prominent critic of Brexit and the Rwanda Bill, calls them betrayals of the UK. Macron also believes that Brexit has negative results and will not remain without any costs. The Rwanda Bill is another part of the UK’s continuous failing chain. President Emmanuel Macron has criticised Brexit and the Rwanda Bill, calling them “ineffective. Macron’s critique of Brexit and the Rwanda Bill shows the tense relationship between France and England.

Macron’s critique: Brexit won with ‘lies and false promises’

In his speech, the French President called Brexit and its supporters all liars. He warned: “British people have chosen to leave the European Union. They will no longer have the same rights.” He believes that Brexit cannot be without any consequences.

Speaking to the press after a summit of EU leaders in Salzburg, Macron said Brexit is “the choice of the British people, a choice pushed by those who predicted easy solutions … They are liars. They left the next day, so they didn’t have to manage it.” He added that Brexit shows “it’s not so easy to leave the EU, it’s not without a cost, it’s not without consequences.”

Macron’s Critiques to Brexit: No one dares to follow UK

Macron’s critique of Brexit and the Rwanda Bill continues. In his idea, the effects of Brexit in the UK mean that no European country is still seriously considering leaving the EU.

Macron also believes that Brexit has no suitable results for European countries and acts against it. According to the Daily Telegraph, he has warned European nationalists against following Britain out of the European Union, saying that Brexit has impoverished the UK and failed to solve the country’s immigration problems.

Macron’s critique of Brexit and the Rwanda Bill: Tense relations between France and the UK

UK-France relations have been tense since the 2015 announcement of the British referendum on EU membership. According to Euronews, Macron said: “It will not be the same as the relationship we have known for a few decades. One cannot be both inside and outside. The British people have chosen to leave the European Union. They will no longer have the same duties, so they will no longer have the same rights.”

UK’s Shameful Rwanda Bill: A solution that does not work

The UK’s solution to reduce the number of illegal immigrants is to outsource to Rwanda. The common idea is that Brexit has led to the mentioned bill. In November 2023, the Supreme Court ruled Rwanda unsafe due to its human rights record and the 1994 genocide. However, Brexiters want to get the job done despite putting immigrants’ lives in danger.

Does the bill make Rwanda a safe place? Lord Alton of Liverpool believed simply legislating Rwanda is safe “doesn’t make it so,” adding, “Saying a dog is a cat doesn’t make it such. It may be your opinion, but it isn’t true.” Brexiters are trying to regain their lost sovereignty by pursuing the Rwanda Bill, which contradicts what it means to be British. They want to get Brexit done under any circumstances.

Macron calls the Rwanda Bill a betrayal.

Macron criticises Rwanda-style asylum schemes days after the UK passes a bill. French President Emmanuel Macron said Britain’s plan to send asylum seekers to Rwanda was “ineffective” and showed “cynicism”. “I don’t believe in the model … which would involve finding third countries on the African continent or elsewhere…”

Emmanuel Macron has launched a furious attack on Rishi Sunak’s flagship Rwanda plan to warn Europe against overdependence on other countries for security and trade. “We’re creating geopolitics of cynicism that betrays our values, will build new dependencies, and will prove completely ineffective,” he added in a wide-ranging speech on the future of the European Union at Paris’ Sorbonne University.

Rishi Sunak worsens UK economy by Brexit.  

As Politico quotes, Boris Johnson may have coined the phrase, but Rishi Sunak hopes he’s the man who can finally claim to have “got Brexit done.” But for what end?

Rishi Sunak wants to finish what Boris Johnson started – but do voters believe him? Sunak is using Brexit to win the latest election. However, British people believe Sunak has overlooked the negative impact of Brexit. Sunak thought the opposite party, the Labour, would cost taxpayers £2,000 each. On the contrary, as people pointed out in a report from January,  the average Brit is already nearly £2,000 worse off due to Brexit. Despite Sunak’s claim to reduce costs in the UK, most British voters see leaving the EU as a massive failure for the country, especially around broken promises on NHS funding. According to Euronews, Brits believe Brexit has driven up shop prices and thwarted government attempts to control immigration.

Rishi Sunak’s following Johnson in Rwanda Bill

Rishi Sunak promised to reduce illegal immigration to the UK through the ever-losing Rwanda bill. Boris Johnson proposed the idea of a flight to Rwanda. In response to the series of questions posed by journalists, Sunak said: “We’ve got to finish the job.” The bill was banned due to its immorality.

The real problem is that the Conservatives are no longer the most trusted party regarding immigration. Recent YouGov  polling shows 21% of people think Labour would handle immigration best, whereas just 14% believe the same of the Conservatives. This loss of trust has made it incredibly challenging for Mr Sunak. The question here is why Sunak is claiming a solution for which there is no end.
